Primary 4 and 5 have been excelling in their maths since their return after Christmas. Not only do we complete quick mental maths activities every day, we have covered a lot of topics and learned a lot. We used magnetic squares to help us understand the concept of area. We also used the fraction bar model to investigate how fractions can be equivalent. We found out that 1 third is the same as 2 sixths! We used strips of paper of varying length to investigate halves and quarters. We found out that a strip of 16cm paper can be folded in half, then half again to make quarters of 4cm. This week we were learning about money and helping Miss Swail with her shopping!
